Mermaid - Often depicted as a queenly mermaid, Yemaya is considered the Ocean Mother Goddess. With anchored roots in the Yoruba religion, Yemaya was brought over to the New World by enslaved Africans as early as the 16th century. 

Yemaya is perhaps the most nurturing of all the Orishas, and it’s believed that all of life comes from her deep nourishing waters. Her strong and protective energy can be found virtually everywhere, but especially near oceans and lakes.

Symbolism:

• Turquoise induces clarity and tranquility, and encourages communication & self-expression of one’s deepest truths.
  
• The play and variety of vivid colors in abalone shells represent change as the beauty of change and existence. Like water, its calmness and tranquility protect us from life's unsettling passions. It can stimulate psychic development such as intuition and improve your ability to express your emotions with clarity.

• Throat is the ability to verbalize. Expressing truth through the power of the spoken word. Stimulates the ability to communicate one's deepest truths.

Each waist bead is made to order by hand and customized to specifications indicated in each order including measurements, type of closure, and charm placement if applicable. When ordering multiple waist beads, measurements should vary at least 1/8 of an inch in difference.
